Fernando Ortiz
Program Associate, Miami-Dade Innovation Authority (MDIA)
Fernando Ortiz has several years working in the public sector and currently is a Program Associate with the Miami-Dade Innovation Authority (MDIA) working on addressing public challenges through innovative tech solutions and supports the Allapattah Collaborative CDC on community and economic development initiatives in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami. Ortiz has managed government and community relations for city agencies in the City of New York including NYCEDC and NYC City Planning with a focus on Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. While at NYCEDC, Ortiz helped secure over $600 million in public funding for projects across The Bronx and helped manage major vision plans like Together for Kingsbridge and Hunts Point Forward. Fernando is the founder of a strategic consulting firm FOGA and is bi-national Dominican-American who works closely on issues related to the Dominican diaspora.
Fernando holds a masters degree in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a masters degree in Sustainable Design from the Boston Architectural College.
