Eran Sthoeger
Lecturer, Sustainability Management; Litigator and Consultant in Public International Law
Eran Sthoeger is a New York based litigator, consultant and advisor on matters of public international law. He has vast experience in litigating and advising on complex legal matters such as international environmental law, land and maritime boundaries, the law of the sea, treaty law, investment law, the law of international organizations, human rights law and the use of force and humanitarian law issues.
Eran has worked on cases and appeared before international courts and tribunals, including on environmental issues before the International Court of Justice and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. He also has experience with alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as conciliation and negotiations between States. He regularly advises Governments on comprehensive litigation strategies with a view of protecting their rights and advancing their wider policy goals.
Eran is also an expert on the workings of the United Nations, particularly the United Nations Security Council, after having worked for a decade at Security Council Report. During that time he gained a unique understating of the intricate interrelations between law and policy in the international arena. On top of his work as a Policy Analyst and Legal Expert, Eran was also Training Coordinator, responsible for constructing and delivering capacity building and training programs for elected members to the United Nations Security Council.
Eran has also several publications and teaches as an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School, and previously at Seton Hall Law School and the School of Law at Hofstra University. Eran is a former Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of Israel and a member of the New York bar.
Eran holds an LL.B. in law, history and Jewish History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (summa cum laude) and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law.
