Emma Germano
Actuarial Science Program Representative
Emma Germano is a student at Columbia University studying Actuarial Science. She currently serves as the Program Representative for Actuarial Science for SPSSG, where she helps represent the interests of students in the program and supports initiatives that connect students with academic resources and professional opportunities.
Emma is interested in applying mathematics, statistics, and data analysis to understand and manage financial risk. Through her coursework, she has developed experience working with quantitative tools such as R and Python and enjoys using data-driven methods to solve complex problems related to insurance and finance.
Before attending Columbia, Emma studied at Rutgers University, where she also participated in international academic programs. She completed an econometrics course at the London School of Economics, gaining experience analyzing economic data in Stata, and studied in Lisbon, Portugal, where she explored Portuguese film and culture.
Emma hopes to pursue a career in actuarial science, where she can apply analytical and statistical techniques to help organizations make informed financial and risk management decisions.
