Charlene Perilla-Iqbal
Deputy Program Director, Strategic Communication
Charlene Perilla-Iqbal is the Deputy Program Director of the Strategic Communication program, where she is responsible for leading the program’s co-curriculum programming, partnerships, marketing, and recruitment efforts. She works closely with SPS Admissions, Student Advising, and Alumni Affairs to serve the student lifecycle from admissions to their time in the program to alumni.
Throughout her professional career, Charlene has worked in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Having worked at higher education institutions in Switzerland and Saudi Arabia, she joined the School of Professional Studies at Columbia University in the City of New York in 2017.
Charlene has over 18 years of strategic management experience in the international development, higher education and social impact sectors. She is highly proficient in organizational planning and design and devises innovative solutions for educational and social impact organizations that support teams and meet goals.
Charlene holds Master’s degrees in Population & Development from the London School of Economics (LSE) and Strategic Communication from Columbia University.
