Azida Ahmad Azmi

ANCoRS President | Student, MS in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

Azida Ahmad Azmi is a current student in the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program and serves as the President of the student group Association for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (ANCoRS). She is an aspiring researcher focused on deconstructing the systemic inequalities that perpetuate social stratification.

During her tenure as President of MRA Siswa, Azida spearheaded community empowerment initiatives through youth-led programs, leveraging grassroots engagement to address the intersection of education and inequality. In her pursuit of educational equity, Azida founded 'Ezzy's Consulting Service,' which offers pro-bono mentorship to underserved Malaysian students. Through this initiative, she has supported over 250 students in navigating scholarship applications, admissions processes, and leadership opportunities. Her commitment to democratizing access to education highlights her drive to challenge meritocratic myths and create pathways for those systematically disadvantaged. Her selection for the prestigious YSEALI Fellowship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, underscores her broader commitment to civic engagement and social justice. Additionally, as an alternate member of Columbia University’s Judicial Board, Azida applies her understanding of conflict resolution to uphold fairness within the academic community.

Azida's research as a fellow at the Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM) Institute, as well as her role as a research assistant at the Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (MD-ICCCR), has deepened her inquiry into the communication aspect of conflict resolution as well as mechanisms of constructive versus destructive conflict responses.

Alongside her academic pursuits, Azida works as an Admissions Ambassador Intern at Columbia SPS. As an awardee of the Academic and Professional Grant from Columbia School of Professional Studies, she is attending the N-Conference in Zurich, co-sponsored by the NECR program, to deepen her understanding of global conflict resolution strategies.
