Annemarie Norris
Lecturer, Strategic Communication
Annemarie has been a global brand steward and strategic leader for nearly 25 years. She is currently a Strategy EVP at Leo (formerly Leo Burnett) after two big stints at BBDO and Ogilvy. Over the course of her career, she has had the pleasure of steering the strategic and creative development of some of the most iconic brands in the world–including Dove, Pedigree, American Express, Gillette, M&M’s, Snickers and many more. Her journey has taken her around the world to learn about culture and consumers, and how to connect with them through authentic brand stories and experiences. She leads a multi-disciplinary strategic team that leverages insights to spark creativity that is both surprising and innovative, helping to shape brands that are and continue to be a meaningful part of people’s lives.
She has been a part of many award-winning teams but is most proud of being shortlisted for Creative Strategy at Cannes and the two Jay Chiat awards for Global Strategy (Gold and Silver), and two Silver Global Effie’s she has won.
Annemarie graduated with a BS from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and received an MA from Columbia University’s Teachers College. While she is a new Instructor at Columbia SPS, she has been teaching and guest lecturing for several years at Newhouse’s online MS program in Communications. She will be teaching Communication and Global Brands at Columbia SPS this coming semester.
Annemarie is a life-long New Yorker and has three young sons with her husband Ben.
