Annelie Tiedeu
ANCoRS Project Management Officer | M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
Annelie Tiedeu is a current student in the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (NECR) program at Columbia University and serves as the Project Management Officer of the student group Association for Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (ANCoRS).
Annelie is a Cameroonian-born American who graduated in less than record time with high distinction with a double major Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science from the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs, Florida International University, Miami, Florida. This training exposed her to a wealth of information in various fields like Economics, International Law, Foreign Policy, International Political Economy, and more. The knowledge acquired was instrumental in improving her understanding of International Affairs and Politics – how they are conducted, conflict resolution, foreign direct investment, past and contemporary international problems, just to mention a few. Annelie is passionate about humanitarian work. This came forth in her participation in caring for the young at church, being a mentor in an after-school program and working with Empower Cameroon – a Cameroon-based Non-Profit Organization for sponsoring underprivileged children's education.
Being raised in Cameroon, Central Africa, in her early years and transitioning to the States have given her great experience and exposure to very different educational, geographical, climatic, cultural, social, gender-based and racial values and environments. Besides the national languages (French and English), there are approximately 350 ethnic groups, tribes and dialects in Cameroon. This heterogenous melting-pot of distinct political traditions and the ongoing conflict there have contributed to heighten her desire to broker for peaceful living together.
After completing the Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Annelie plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate. She intends to use the knowledge she receives from this program in conjunction with the legal training to contribute to the need for stability, to resolve and prevent conflicts within and beyond national borders, and become a versatile and well-rounded attorney.
