Anaya Huggins

Anaya Huggins is a Brooklyn native and a student in the M.S. in Nonprofit Management program at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. She earned two bachelor’s degrees from Hunter College, where she studied public health, anthropology, and business studies and graduated as salutatorian. During her time at Hunter, Anaya served as a Yalow Honors Scholar, JFEW and Eva Kastan Grove fellow, student ambassador, resident assistant, and student government member. She also participated in fellowships and internships and studied abroad in Costa Rica, where she shadowed physicians at Hospital Clínica Bíblica and discovered her passion for global health. Her experiences at Hunter ultimately led her to the Columbia-CUNY Fellowship and continued to shape her interest in healthcare, leadership, and community impact. 

She currently serves as a program coordinator for Hunter College’s Black Student Affinity Space, where she creates a supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds to connect, study, and engage in community and cultural programming. Through her work and education, Anaya hopes to build a career in hospital administration and eventually expand her impact in global health. At SPS, she hopes to strengthen her nonprofit leadership and management skills while gaining the knowledge and connections needed to bridge healthcare, community engagement, and global health.
