Amy Scheer
Senior VP of Business Operations, PWHL
Focus, clarity of vision and unstoppable enthusiasm have powered Amy Scheer to success in leadership roles with some of the most iconic leagues, teams, brands and venues in pro sports. Throughout an award-winning four-decade career, Scheer’s distinguished experience in all areas of sports management have prepared her for her current role as Senior Vice President, Business Operations, for the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). Scheer’s journey in the sports industry commenced with the New Jersey Nets.
For over 15 years, she led initiatives that included producing award-winning team-specific TV shows and curating the team’s acclaimed magazine, “InnerNets.” She also introduced concepts that included a youth radio show and a complimentary game-day program.
Next, as VP of Marketing & Communications for the WNBA New York Liberty, Scheer spent a decade orchestrating league-leading numbers in attendance, ticket sales and marketing partnerships, while creating award-winning marketing campaigns. In 2008, she made history by producing the first outdoor regular-season pro basketball game (Liberty vs. Indiana at Arthur Ashe Stadium) and staged six games on the world-famous stage at Radio City Music Hall.
After launching the MLS New York City Football Club (NYCFC), which attracted record crowds for soccer to Yankee Stadium, Scheer became Chief Commercial Officer for the MLS New York Red Bulls and drove increased revenue across ticket sales, partnerships and youth soccer initiatives. Scheer embarked on a consulting role with Madison Square Garden. Her purview included marketing, branding, ticket sales, marketing partnerships, events and mentoring young staff members for a variety of teams and entertainment properties.
As a consultant, Scheer crafted business plans for clients including Rugby New York of Major League Rugby and the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. Her commitment and results led Scheer to a full-time role; as Vice President, Business Operations, for the Sun, she restored business metrics to pre-pandemic levels.
Scheer then joined the NFL's Club Business Development department. She assumed oversight of the NFL’s innovative Ticket Network, spearheaded multiple projects with the Kraft Analytics Group (KAGR) and championed fan experience and engagement initiatives. She moved back into the women’s sports space with the PWHL, which was honored after its inaugural season as “2024 Sports Breakthrough Of The Year” by the Sports Business Journal.
