Fifty-seven teams representing a total of 221 students competed in this year's PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers' International Association) Risk Challenge. The students analyzed a famous currency options desk scandal that happened at NAB with regards to valuation and then proposed a modern risk dashboard that was coded in MATLAB or alternative software packages.

Both teams did very well.
Columbia ERM made it to the International Finals, where they competed against teams from London, Russia, Frankfurt, Cairo, eventual winner Toronto, and others.
While the Two-Tailed Lions did not reach the International Finals, they were one of only five teams recognized with an Honorable Mention for their strong performance in the regional finals.
Jason Li commented on the entire experience:
“With more than 100 hours of research, this competition was challenging but definitely rewarding, and we valued this experience. By providing solutions for the problem, we enjoyed drilling through the annual reports and thinking about how the risk management frameworks were designed and implemented. We all found our passion in risk management after working on this case.”
