Sergej van Middendorp

Sergej van Middendorp is an action researcher and developer who wonders how we can create wholeness in an increasingly complex world. In search for answers, he focuses on the systems that we make and use to work together to generate health, wealth, and peace. In this, he examines the ways in which the metaphors that designers use in their conversations become embodied in the systems that they are creating. By making designers aware of their use of metaphor, and of their ability to generate new futures by improvising with metaphors, they can better cope with the complex and dynamic nature of the challenges presented in design today in a broadly ecological sense. 

Currently, with his 'ingroove crew' at Miles Ahead, he is working with communities, non-profits, entrepreneurs, and institutions to create an integrative (digital) health system in The Netherlands. Sergej also serves on the board of the CMM Institute for Personal and Social Evolution and as an advisory board member of the Academy for Integrative Medicine.
