Equity and Inclusion in the New York City Government

Columbia Human Capital Management students have many opportunities to hear from, and interact with, esteemed guest speakers working in a variety of roles and settings. Recently, students enrolled in the Introduction to Human Capital Management course had the opportunity to hear from Silvia Montalban, Esq., Chief Citywide Equity and Inclusion Officer for the City of New York's Department of Administrative Services and Kadian Outar, M.B.A., PHR, Executive Director, Office of Citrywide Equity and Inclusion. Together, they shared with students the important work they do across the NYC government, directing its emergence as an innovative and global leader in equitable, diverse, and inclusive employment practices. Students were able to converse with Silvia and Kadian about DEI practices in NYC government, which complemented course content in this area.
