In the second century of US philanthropy, foundations understand that their most important asset is the expertise of their employees. Foundations need innovative program staff to think systemically and work collaboratively across diverse sectors on tough issues. Resourceful operations staff are required to create effective processes and systems to power the grant making process. Our panel explored the varied types of positions within foundations and successful ways to translate other work, educational and life experience into careers within foundations.
