Dr. Burton: Virtual ‘Stonewall Day’ Will Raise Funds for LGBTQ+ Groups Hit by COVID-19

With the COVID-19 pandemic scuttling plans for galas and other fundraising events, a number of nonprofit and advocacy groups are pivoting to virtual gatherings—including one LGBTQ+ organization whose leadership includes Yvette C. Burton, Ph.D, Academic Director of the M.S. in Human Capital Management program.

Pride Live has partnered with Pride Media to hold its annual Stonewall Day celebration as a global livestream event on June 26 to raise funds for LGBTQ+ youth organizations impacted by COVID-19. Dr. Burton is president of the Pride Live board of directors.

“Since we launched Stonewall Day three years ago, our goal has been to honor those who stood up and bravely took action to ignite the fight for LGBTQ+ equality,” she told The Advocate, adding, “If our history has taught us anything, it is that our greatest moments have come from helping and supporting each other — and we invite all of you to join us on June 26."
