Join Columbia University School of Professional Studies in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, March 4th to learn more about Master’s degree programs in the Strategic Communications, Nonprofit Management, and Negotiation and Conflict Resolution.
During the evening’s program, you’ll hear from the faculty and alumni from each of the programs. You’ll also learn more about how a master’s degree in these fields of study will advance your career.
Information sessions will feature program administrators and alumni as they discuss the curriculum, faculty, and the application process.

ALUMNI PANELIST INFORMATION
Jenn Counter, '19SPS, Strategic Communications
Jennifer Counter is a Vice President at Ipsos Public Affairs in Washington, DC where she leads work for public sector and nongovernmental organizations in the Risk Analysis Division, a new functional unit within Ipsos. Ms. Counter’s team uses remote sensing, traditional survey and research work, and new technology solutions to provide clients with in-depth perspectives on their risk profile, public sentiment towards clients’ brands and leadership, and status of infrastructure and other facilities in geographies of interest.
Prior to Ipsos, Ms. Counter was involved with start-ups in the security and communications spaces and undertook business development efforts for private equity firm Granahan McCourt Capital. She did postings overseas in Afghanistan, Kenya, and Ireland for the State Department’s Regional Affairs Office where she led and implemented strategic communications programs and tackled transnational issues such as counterterrorism. Ms. Counter was also a United States Air Force Officer and received her commission through the Air Force ROTC program. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Boston University, a M.A. in Global Diplomacy from the University of London – School of Oriental and African Studies, and a M.S. in Strategic Communication from Columbia University.
Rachel Oatis, '19SPS, Nonprofit Management
Rachel Oatis is determined to equip and educate the next generation of leaders in her hometown of Louisiana. She aspires to fix the educational achievement gap in the South through social impact philanthropy.
Oatis is a proud graduate of Spelman College, where she earned her B.A. in Political Science and obtained high academic honors of Phi Beta Kappa during her senior year. She has held positions at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Washington National Cathedral, and the District Office of Congressman John Lewis and Cedric Richmond. During her time at Columbia, Oatis was a HBCU Fellow at the School of Professional Studies where she studied to obtain her M.S. in Nonprofit Management.
Nikolas Katsimpras, Lecturer, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
Nikolas Katsimpras is an independent conflict analysis/strategy consultant focusing mostly on the Eastern Mediterranean, MENA, and the Arabian Gulf.
A veteran officer of the Hellenic Navy with extensive international experience, Katsimpras has been awarded by the International Institute for Humanitarian Law and in 2012 he received the Dynamical Systems Fellowship from Columbia University’s Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict, and Complexity (AC4) to conduct research on the peace negotiations in Burma.
