Effective immediately, access to the Morningside campus has been limited to students residing in residential buildings on campus (Carman, Furnald, John Jay, Hartley, Wallach, East Campus and Wien) and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life (for example, Dining, Public Safety, and building maintenance staff). Dean Jason Wingard Reflects on the Value of HBCUs

Dean Jason Wingard reflects on the importance of an HBCU education, gives advice to current HBCU students, and explains the Columbia HBCU Fellowship in an expert Q&A for BestColleges.com.

"HBCUs, while representing less than three percent of colleges and universities in the country, graduate 42 percent of the nation's African American engineers and 50% of all black professionals," said Dr. Wingard of the importance of an HBCU education.

The Columbia HBCU Fellowship selects high-achieving undergraduate seniors selected by partner HBCUs to receive full tuition and housing for a range of master’s programs at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies.
