The Negotiator: A Conversation with Senator George Mitchell

The Honorable George J. Mitchell joins Aldo Civico, faculty for Columbia University’s Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program, for a conversation about the Senator’s life and work.

A U.S. Senator from 1980 to 1995, Mitchell played a leading role in negotiations for peace in Northern Ireland and the Middle East. He was appointed as Special Envoy for Northern Ireland from 1995 to 2001 and Special Envoy for Middle East Peace from 2009-2011. In addition, he was a primary architect of the 1996 Mitchell Principles and the 1998 Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland. Mitchell recently authored The Negotiator: A Memoir (Simon & Schuster, 2015).
