Online Information Session: M.S. in Sports Management

Why do current students choose Columbia University’s Sports Management Program?

This one hour Sports Management live virtual information session covers the program’s approach to a market-influenced curriculum, along with explaining the depth and breadth of our course offerings and tiered approach to career support. Hear from Kristen Mosley, a current first-semester student transitioning from a career in finance into a career in sports.

From Kristen Mosley: Why I Chose Columbia University Sports Management Program?

“When I sat to think about my post-grad plans, I revisited my entrance essay to see if anything had changed. I've definitely learned a lot about the sports industry since August, and although my end goal is a little different, the tools and skillset I need to get there remain the same. My plan is to find a position that combines my previous experience in finance and consulting with my interest in sports marketing. After graduation, I would like to find a role that is focused on evaluating, developing, and prioritizing marketing strategies, using KPIs and financial planning. To help prepare me for that type of position, I plan to intern with various research firms and sports agencies that are involved with helping brands, leagues, and teams develop and execute marketing strategies for key audience segments. I also plan to enroll in data analytics and marketing strategy courses.

I chose this Program because Columbia has invested a lot of resources into ensuring the success of its students. From the faculty and staff to the course options, there’s a lane for everyone. I was also looking for a program that concentrated on data analytics and Columbia has course options devoted to helping students in this area. I knew that the above-mentioned factors, combined with the location and globalization of the school, would prepare me for success in the long-run.”
