Three Profiles of Upcoming Grads You May Have Missed

In celebration of the accomplishments of all School of Professional Studies degree candidates taking part in the 2018 SPS Graduation Ceremony—our biggest-ever, with 957 graduates and over 4,120 guests registered to attend—here’s a selection of three profiles drawn from our recent coverage.

Lara Bou Khalil, ’18SPS, Construction Administration
This architect from Lebanon pivoted to a burgeoning construction management career in New York City by entering the master’s program in Construction Administration.

Megan Candio, ’18SPS, Nonprofit Management
A professional opera singer for a decade, Megan Candio decided to enter nonprofits. She joined the Nonprofit Management master's program and two years later, she is operations manager for Hire Cause and ready for more. She will deliver the Student Address at the SPS graduation ceremony.

Kelly Cunegundes, ’18SPS, Narrative Medicine
This M.D. from Brazil wanted to study how the intersection of medicine and the arts can clarify our understanding of humanity. Through the Narrative Medicine master’s program, she has gained new tools to understand her patients, and is exploring methods of teaching narrative medicine to her own students.

The SPS graduation ceremony will start at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 on the South Lawn of Columbia University’s Morningside campus, and will be webcast live on the University’s website.
