Lucia Ferrarese

Lucia Ferrarese (‘18SPS, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution) is a lawyer by training and a project manager with over 7 years of experience working in the public and nonprofit sectors. Lucia is passionate about social impact and education for change.

Ferrarese is a Senior Associate at Acumen, a global nonprofit investing in sustainable businesses, leaders and ideas, where she supports the implementation of leadership development programs for local changemakers across multiple geographies. Previously, she worked at the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the United Nations, supporting the diplomatic mission on administrative and legal international affairs. Before returning to graduate school, Ferrarese served as a junior legal counsel at the Ministry of Planning and Public Work of Argentina, implementing public plans in the most needed areas of the country.

Ferrarese is a Lecturer for the Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (NECR) program at Columbia University. Additionally, she worked as a Teaching Associate for two years, providing academic and operational support for both the Environmental Conflict Resolution and Resolution Strategies courses for NECR.

Ferrarese received a scholarship from the Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity to present her research on intercultural mediation and the expression of emotions at the 2017 International Association for Conflict Management (IACM) Conference in Berlin, Germany. At the 2018 IACM Conference in Philadelphia, she presented her research on “Building resilience among refugees and host communities in Uganda: A culturally-sensitive approach,” a product of the NECR International Fieldwork course to Uganda in 2017.
