David J. Castellani

Adjunct Professor; Senior Vice President and Business Information Officer, New York Life Insurance Company

As Senior Vice President and Business Information Officer for New York Life Insurance Company, David J. Castellani is responsible for translating New York Life’s business goals into clear enterprise technology solutions, for driving process improvements across company operations, and for establishing consistent governance over all information technology initiatives. His areas of focus include the oversight of large technology initiatives, the development of a comprehensive data strategy, and the continued evolution of Enterprise Technology’s service capabilities.

Castellani has a nearly 33-year history in the financial services industry and has held various positions related to business, sales, marketing, and product development during this time. Prior to joining New York Life in 2010 as head of the Retirement Plan Services business, he was a Managing Director and the Chief Marketing Officer at EWM, LLC, a wealth management firm based in Zurich, Switzerland, and New Canaan, CT. Earlier, he served a combined 25 years at Prudential Retirement and CIGNA Corporation. Castellani also founded two startups, both of which centered on the use of technology to drive process improvement.

Castellani completed the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program at Harvard Business School in 1996. He is Chairman of the Board of Qv21, Inc., a cloud-based software and services company based in Austin, Texas.
