Jonah Busch

Jonah Busch is an environmental economist who researches climate change and tropical deforestation.

Dr. Busch has published more than twenty articles on forests, climate, and biodiversity in academic journals including Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Review of Environmental Economics and Policy, Land Economics, and Environmental Research Letters. He has also published on the economics of penguins, pandas, and surfers.

Dr. Busch is Chief Economist at Earth Innovation Institute. He serves on the editorial board of Conservation Letters and the advisory board for the Center for Carbon Removal. He has advised on climate and forests for the President of Guyana, the governments of Norway, Indonesia, Bolivia, Suriname, Colombia, the United Kingdom, and California, the Global Environment Facility, Forest Carbon Partnership Facility, and Green Climate Fund.

Previously, Dr. Busch has been a visiting scholar at Zhejiang University and the University of California-Berkeley; Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development; Climate and Forest Economist at Conservation International; and a high school math teacher in the Peace Corps (Burkina Faso, ’00-’02).
