Morningside Campus/Limited Access

Ilene Wilets

Faculty Affiliate, Bioethics

Ilene Wilets has been on the faculty of the Bioethics program at Columbia’s School of Professional Studies since 2004. She teaches and mentors students in the master’s program about human subjects protection regulation and research ethics. Her longstanding interests involve informed consent and decision-making for research participation, the communication of research risk and benefit, and subject voluntariness.

Currently, Dr. Wilets is an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Chair at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Prior to this role, she served as Executive Director of the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) Department of Psychiatry Institutional Review Board.
