Betsy Keating

Lecturer, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

Betsy Keating works as a Researcher for 2020 Women on Boards, a national campaign that aims to significantly increase the percentage of women on U.S. corporate boards. As an advocate for gender equality, she thrives on working at the grassroots level to promote public awareness and corporate accountability.

Keating earned her master’s degree from Columbia University in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution where her thesis was entitled Hero or Snitch? A Case Study on American Corporate Whistleblowing. Prior to that, she worked in journalism; she has extensive experience as a photo editor for Time Inc. and Hearst Magazines. During her tenure, she covered a vast array of subjects, including the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the first election of an African-American U.S. President, and the global economic collapse of 2008.

Keating also received her grant-writing certificate from the American Grant Writers’ Association and enjoys helping artists and nonprofits find funding for their projects. Specifically, she worked with the Media Policy Center, an organization dedicated to leveraging media for social justice. Keating helped the organization locate funding for feature-length documentaries on opioid addiction and DNA exonerations.
