Daruish Akhtari

Lecturer

Dariush Akhtari is the Head of ALM and Economic Models at AXA-Equitable and the founder of FInnC Minds, a consulting firm advising fintechs and private equity firms on matters related to capital management and ALM. He is a seasoned insurance and risk executive with over 35 years of practice in both the U.S. and Canada. His past experiences include Business Development Officer at Moody’s Analytics, Managing Director and Head of ALM at AIG, and CRO at Sun Life U.S. His areas of expertise include ERM, ALM, capital management, actuarial related topics, and life and annuity product development. He was a pioneer of developing least square Monte Carlo (LSMC) technique (applying neural network concept to simplify nested stochastic simulation) and a key contributor to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) for determining Canadian capital regime for Variable Annuity/Segregated Fund Business. Since 2016, Dariush has been an adjunct professor lecturing on ALM and Investment at Columbia University Actuarial Science program (Master degree). He is a frequent speaker in North American Insurance conferences. 

Dariush graduated from University of Toronto with a degree in Mathematics and Physics. He is a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries as well as being a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
