Alumna Kira Peikoff: NASH is a Health Threat

M.S. in Bioethics alumna Kira Peikoff published a piece in Newsweek about the looming threat of NASH — an illness believed to be linked to obesity — and the race for pharmaceutical and biotech companies to put a drug on the market.

“As many as 25 million adults in the United States suffer from some form of NASH, and most don’t know it… According to liver experts, NASH is a silent public health time bomb that may soon overload our health care system with hospital admissions. By 2020, it is expected to eclipse hepatitis C as the leading reason for liver transplants.”
