Rebecca Shaffer

Lecturer of Finance, Business Offerings

Rebecca Shaffer was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, the second of four sisters. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Penn State University where she earned her undergraduate degree in Finance. Subsequently, she earned a Masters in Accounting from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Taxation from Robert Morris University.

She spent the first five years of her career working for Ernst & Young, including four of those years learning how to audit for a public accounting firm. In her fifth and final year, she transferred to the tax consulting department and later left Ernst & Young to join the tax department for a large retailer in the Pittsburgh area. Since that time, she has spent the past fifteen years in a corporate tax department focusing primarily on income tax and accounting. Additionally, she has been teaching online courses for the past twelve years.
