Liyang Yan

Liyang Yan is a technology and AI leader with years of experience in machine learning, engineering management, and applied artificial intelligence across leading technology companies. He serves as an Engineering Manager on Meta’s Instagram Core Modeling team, where he leads engineers developing large-scale machine learning and ranking systems for Meta products. Previously, Liyang held engineering leadership roles at Amazon and Facebook, where he led teams developing machine learning–driven advertising, recommendation, and location-based products. His experience spans machine learning systems, generative AI, large language models, recommendation systems, targeted advertising, and large-scale data and infrastructure platforms.

In addition to his industry leadership, Liyang has been an adjunct instructor. He has taught computer programming and analytics programming at New York University and Yeshiva University, with a focus on Python and data science. He has developed original curriculum that integrates emerging AI technologies and practical industry skills into academic instruction. Liyang holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from New York University’s Courant Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Fudan University.
