Anna Deforest

Anna DeForest is a lecturer in the Narrative Medicine program at Columbia University, an instructor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, and a neurologist and palliative care physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. They are the author of the novels A History of Present Illness (A New York Times Editor's Choice and winner of the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters) and Our Long Marvelous Dying. DeForest's short fiction and essays on death and language have appeared in Harper's, The Paris Review, The New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, The Believer, The Yale Review and elsewhere.
