Maleny Roman

Maleny is a graduate student in the Human Capital Management program whose background spans military service, experience across the public and private sectors, and active involvement in academic leadership. These experiences have given her firsthand insight into how institutions can either support people or create barriers for them, and she brings that perspective to every space she enters. She approaches leadership as service in action, demonstrated through her commitment to the work, her dedication to understanding complex systems, and her resolve to show up for the people she represents, even through adversity. 

Within the HCM program, that commitment means advocating for a student community as varied as the experiences that bring people to graduate school, one that includes in-person and online students, international students, working professionals, parents, and veterans, and working to ensure that the full breadth of their lived experiences is reflected in the decisions that shape their time in the program.
