Sami Salloum
Senior Investigator, Sanctions and Export Controls
Sami Salloum is a Senior Investigator focusing on Sanctions and Export Controls risks at First Citizens Bank, a role that encompasses risk assessment across critical sectors including semiconductors, AI, quantum computing, aviation, maritime, oil and gas, global VC investments, and the innovation economy. He transitioned into financial risk management after graduating in May 2022 from the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (NECR) Program at Columbia University, where he attended on the Columbia Global Center full-ride scholarship. Following his graduation, Sami worked on the Enterprise Risk Management Team at Silicon Valley Bank before the bank was acquired by First Citizens Bank. His earlier career involved significant experience in international security and policy, working with the United Nations Security Council Affairs Division (UN DPPA) and Security Council Report on various UNSC sanctions regimes and Middle East/counter-terrorism agendas, as well as with Crisis Action's UN delegation on humanitarian affairs and the protection of civilians.
