Penelope Van Heems

Hi everyone! I’m Penelope, and I’m thrilled to serve as the program representative for the 

Sustainability Management (SUMA) program. Originally from France, I’ve been lucky to live in Paris, New York, Santiago, and Madrid, where I studied Business Administration at IE University. Before Columbia, I worked at BNP Paribas in Paris within the CIB Sustainability Office, and served at the NGO Life Project 4 Youth, where I led the Youth Inclusion International Forum and represented the organization at the United Nations. 

I’m driven by the idea of bridging corporate strategies with positive social and environmental impact, and I hope to pursue a career in sustainability consulting or sustainable finance. Outside of work, you’ll probably find me traveling, trying new food, or hanging out with friends.

My goal as program representative is to strengthen our SUMA community, learning from each other, sharing ideas freely, and feeling part of something bigger than just the program.
