Zeynep Sezer

Zeynep Sezer is pursuing a Master of Science in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Queen Mary University of London. Her legal background has shaped her interest in approaches to conflict beyond traditional legal processes, emphasizing dialogue, mutual understanding, and creative ways of navigating differences. Growing up in Turkey and studying in London have also contributed to her appreciation for cross-cultural understanding and diverse perspectives.

Having grown up playing the piano and participating in theater, Zeynep developed an appreciation for creativity that continues to influence her academic interests. Through her studies, she became interested in how different disciplines, forms of expression, and storytelling can offer fresh perspectives on complex issues, deepen understanding, and open new possibilities for addressing them.

As the elected NECR Representative, Zeynep draws on this curiosity and her experience in student representation to encourage an inclusive and collaborative environment. She believes in creating space for students to share their perspectives to actively participate in shaping their community. She hopes to strengthen connections within her cohort and across SPS, encourage interdisciplinary exchange, and create opportunities for students to share ideas, learn from one another, and contribute to their experience at Columbia.
