Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Program Representative
Meet Mariana S. Caro-Quintana, Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Program Representative at Columbia SPS. Originally from Puerto Rico, Mariana brings a background in communications and journalism, along with a pre-law focus, to her work in conflict resolution. Her interests center on how communication, mediation, and dialogue can address complex social conflicts and strengthen communities.
She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Columbia University. Alongside her studies, she serves as a Program Assistant for the NECR program and as an intern at the New York Peace Institute, where she supports mediation efforts that help individuals navigate disputes through constructive dialogue.
As NECR Representative, Mariana is committed to fostering a strong sense of community within her cohort by creating opportunities for connection, collaboration, and mutual support. She also works to highlight the diverse backgrounds and experiences of her peers.
Mariana is part of the team organizing the program’s first student-led NECR conference and contributes to the Career Design Lab Committee, helping share career resources and opportunities. She aims to work at the intersection of communication and conflict resolution, using dialogue and storytelling to drive meaningful change.
