Jeff Aubry

Lecturer; Executive Director, Next Gen Basketball Players Union

A native New Yorker, Jeff Aubry is the Executive Director of the Next Gen Basketball Players Union (NGBPU) — the official bargaining representative for all NBA G League players. Appointed as the Union’s first Executive Director in March 2023, Aubry led the negotiation of the first-ever multiyear NBA G League Collective Bargaining Agreement, marking a historic milestone in professional basketball labor relations.

In his role, Aubry oversees the Union’s day-to-day operations, manages its collective bargaining relationship with the NBA G League, and spearheads initiatives to expand commercial partnerships, enhance member development and support infrastructure, and establish career development programming to improve post career outcomes. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to improving the professional, educational, and personal well-being of athletes.

Prior to his current role, Aubry served as Senior Director of Player Development at the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he designed and implemented educational programming for players focused on financial literacy, mental health and wellness, leadership development, and continuing education. He also developed and led the NBA Rookie Transition Program, preparing incoming players for the demands of professional life both on and off the court.

Before transitioning to sports management, Aubry enjoyed an 18-year professional basketball career spanning the NBA G League and international leagues in Argentina, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay, and Venezuela. His playing experience continues to inform his approach to leadership, athlete development, and sports labor advocacy.

Aubry holds a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and an M.S. in Sports Management from Columbia University.
