Chris McGuire
VP, Sports Marketing, adidas North America
Chris has more than 28 years of experience in the sports marketing industry. He began his career in 1996 as the adidas Soccer Academy sales and marketing director at IMG. In 1999, he joined the adidas team as a Sports Marketing Manager. Today, Chris is responsible for building the strategy of who adidas partners with across all fields and courts of play in North America. In the two decades he’s spent at adidas, Chris has spearheaded countless milestone moments for the brand, while building industry leading relationships across all professional sports leagues. Notably, Chris helped solidify adidas’ relationship with Major League Soccer, growing and diversifying the brand’s athlete roster, and growing the brand’s footprint in the NCAA. Under his tenure, adidas has partnered with the best and most creative athletes, including Patrick Mahomes, Anthony Edwards, James Harden, Trinity Rodman, Candace Parker, Donovan Mitchell and Travis Hunter. With a proven track record of success, Chris was ultimately named head of the brand’s Sports Marketing division in 2008. That same year, he was honored by the Sports Business Journal 40 Under 40. Continuing his passion for soccer, he was a member of the City of Portland’s Soccer Advisory Board, a group that measures the viability of introducing an MLS team to Portland. He is also a member of the Sport Oregon Executive board of directors. Chris received a B.S. in Sports Marketing from Indiana University. He and his wife Tracy have two children and they reside in Portland, Ore., home to adidas’ North America headquarters.
