Nitesh Goyal, Ph.D.

Tesh (Nitesh) Goyal, Ph.D., is a leading expert in Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction whose research focuses on building Responsible AI solutions for social good. Based in New York, Dr. Goyal is a Research Leader at Google DeepMind, advancing methodologies for AI safety, generative AI, and human-agent alignment—efforts that have contributed to widely used tools such as Google’s SynthID, AI Studio, MakerSuite, and Harassment Manager. He has been recognized with multiple Best Paper Honorable Mention Awards at premier conferences (ACM CHI, CSCW), held academic appointments, including Adjunct Professor at NYU Tandon and technical leadership roles in the ACM SIGCHI community.

Dr. Goyal earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University, with joint master’s degrees from RWTH Aachen and UC Berkeley. His research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, and German Government, and his work—spanning online safety, transparency in AI, and the ethical deployment of machine learning—has had a measurable impact across academia, industry, and civil society.
