Anthony Guerrero
Executive Director of mindful MATERIALS; Lecturer, Sustainability Management
Anthony Guerrero is the Executive Director of mindful MATERIALS, a nonprofit advancing materials transparency in the built environment, and the Founder of Sustainaprise, an initiative focused on building sustainably and ethically while addressing the housing affordability crisis for young people through modular housing and co-living models. He also serves on the Board of VIBE, advancing innovation at the intersection of sustainability and the built environment.
With over 20 years of leadership experience across nonprofit, corporate, and government sectors, Anthony has redefined how organizations approach regenerative design, operational efficiency, and employee well-being.
At Earthjustice and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Anthony launched and led integrated real estate and sustainability functions, delivering multi-million-dollar cost savings and rapid emissions reductions while positioning both institutions as leaders in sustainable operations. His work includes developing LEED Platinum and Living Building Challenge-certified projects, pioneering hybrid workplace strategies, and implementing science-based decarbonization frameworks across global portfolios.
Anthony also served as Chair of the Board of the International Living Future Institute, where he supported the organization’s global leadership in advancing regenerative design and setting ambitious standards such as the Living Building Challenge.
At Columbia University, Anthony is an Adjunct Professor in the Sustainability Management program, where he teaches Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Measuring and Reducing, a graduate course on GHG accounting, science-based targets, decarbonization roadmaps, and strategies for prioritizing and financing emission reduction projects.
He holds a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Arts in English from Colorado State University, and a graduate certificate in eCommerce Management. He is also a CORO New York Civic Leadership alum.
