Itziar Moreno

Co-Director, Agirre Lehendakaria Center for Social and Political Studies

Itziar Moreno is the Co-Director of the Agirre Lehendakaria Center for Social and Political Studies (ALC). ALC is a collaborative initiative between The University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU - Euskampus) and Columbia University in New York (The Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity - AC4). This social innovation lab specializes in designing, implementing and evaluating large scale Social Innovation Platforms in collaboration with diverse institutions (UNDP, EIT-Climate KIC, ILO, La Caixa Banking Foundation, Spanish Government, Basque Government and other leading academic
institutions promoting Sustainable Human Development. 


Itziar leads ALC's digital work focused on adapting the social innovation platform approach to a digital space that visualizes and helps understanding better citizen perceptions and behavioral changes in real time and contributes to co-design initiatives and policies from a complex system approach. She also leads the developmental evaluation and quality monitoring of all the programs and is the director of K magazine.


Her professional career started in the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, followed by the inception of ALC in 2013. She holds a BA in Social Sciences (University of the Basque Country, UPV-EHU), a post graduate degree in Big Data and Business Intelligence (University of Deusto) and a MPhil for Contemporary Issues (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, 2025).
