Join us for an engaging discussion with professional sports organizations, athletes, and industry leaders that will delve into the importance of the intersection of sports and sustainability, highlighting the direct climate impact of sports activities and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth within and beyond the industry.

OPENING REMARKS

Introductory remarks by Shaun Hoyte, Lecturer, Sustainability Management Program and Director, Sustainability, Energy, and Entertainment Network (SEEN).
 

FIRESIDE CHAT

Program directors Dr. Steve Cohen and Scott Rosner will kick off the event with a fireside chat that delves into leadership principles and the pivotal role of higher education in driving sustainable change.

Dr. Steve Cohen is a Professor in the Practice of Public Affairs at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), the Senior Vice Dean at the Columbia University School of Professional Studies (SPS), the Program Director of the M.S. in Sustainability Management program at SPS and the MPA in Environmental Science and Policy program at SIPA, and the Director of the Earth Institute’s Research Program on Sustainability Policy and Management. From 2006 to 2018, he was Executive Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute.

PANEL

There will be a featured panel discussion where attendees will gain insights into the latest sustainability practices and initiatives from leaders within the sports industry, including NASCAR, the NHL, Protect Our Winters, and more.

Moderated by Chandler Precht, Lecturer and Director of External Affairs and Communications, Sustainability Management and Sustainability Science Programs.
 

RECEPTION

The event will conclude with a reception featuring sustainable wines, climatarian food options, and networking.
