Daniel Cahill
Part-Time Lecturer
Mr. Cahill is a career Special Agent with domestic and international experience in the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice. He has served in national security and criminal investigative positions, including assignments to the Pentagon, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad.
Mr. Cahill currently serves at Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), where he prevents and investigates the illicit transfer of funding, material support, and export-controlled technologies to prohibited actors. He works closely with industry and academia to identify & mitigate threats and develop strategies to protect supply chains. Additionally, as a former civilian nuclear engineer with the U.S. Navy, he serves as a subject matter expert on nuclear-related matters for the agency.
Mr. Daniel Cahill also serves as a Commander in the U.S. Navy (reserve). He is an Intelligence and Information Warfare Officer, leading the identification of operational and strategic level threats and assisting in the development of strategies that enhance the effectiveness of the U.S. Navy, the Department of Defense, and overall national security. He has had numerous headquarters, operational, and international assignments involving risk identification, supply chain, and logistics.
Mr. Cahill supports and executes strategic communications and public outreach for the U.S. Navy and the Department of Homeland Security, focusing on public–private partnerships.
Commander Cahill previously served as an Assistant Inspector General for the U.S. Navy, supporting compliance inspections, investigations, and inquiries into matters of importance to the Navy, including risk quantification, data analytics, and cyber security.
Finally, Commander Cahill is a former U.S. Navy Strategic Sealift Officer who ensured the U.S. military could adequately and safely supply U.S. interests globally, in peace and war, via civilian and commercial shipping.
Mr. Cahill graduated in 2020 from Columbia University with a Master of Science in Enterprise Risk Management, where he subsequently served as a faculty associate.
