Fall 2023 REQUIRED Welcome and Orientation Activities for Incoming Full-Time Students

The Strategic Communication program will host an academic program breakout session during the week of August 28 - September 1, 2023.  This event will be the official orientation session for the incoming cohort of full-time students.  Students will meet the Program Director and other team members at this session.  Columbia SPS Student Life will email incoming students the day/time and registration information for this breakout session in the coming weeks.  

In addition to the academic program breakout, the program will host the following welcome and orientation activities.

1:00 - 4:30 pm Effective Teams Workshop 

In this interactive workshop, students will increase their self-awareness and personal effectiveness and learn self-leadership.  By strengthening their interpersonal skills, they will understand their impact on groups.  They will practice shared leadership, learning to distribute leadership within their teams. 

4:30 - 5:00 pm Break 

5:00 - 6:15 pm Alumni Panel  

Hear from recent graduates of the program.  Alumni will share their student experience, insights, advice and career trajectory since graduating from the program.   

6:15 - 8:00 pm Welcome / Welcome Back Student Reception 

Join us for a cocktail reception hosted by the Strategic Communication program for all incoming and continuing students.
