Sonay Aykan

Lecturer Sustainability Management; Global Director Sustainability Performance Data & Analytics, Mars

​Sonay Aykan is a sustainability expert and believes in creating a more sustainable future by translating environmental and social impacts into business growth. Sonay leverages his academic expertise, research mindset and problem solving skills to be a change agent in organizations, linking the interests of multiple stakeholders to incentivize change towards a new organizational vision where sustainability becomes a part of everyday practices. Sonay currently serves as the Global Director of Sustainability Performance Data & Analytics at Mars where he leads the Petcare Business' practices around sustainability data, analytics and systems, data governance and standards management. Previously, Aykan was the Associate Director of Sustainability and ESG at Colgate-Palmolive Company where he oversaw the creation, management and disclosure of sustainability data, as well as the integration of sustainability metrics into business risks and opportunities.

Sonay has a PhD. in Urban Systems from Rutgers & NJIT, an MA in Sociology and a BA in Economics from Bogazici University. He also holds a SASB FSA credential. He is an avid cyclist.
