Collaboration, Adaptation, and Innovation:Translating Narrative Medicine for New Applications

Jonathan Chou, MS'15 asks how different does narrative medicine look when practiced outside of the traditional ways and spaces that the field was built on? What theories, models, and tools do we have for translating narrative medicine across settings, groups, and formats?
Touching on multiple projects from the last eight years, this talk explores how narrative medicine has been used to create transitional spaces – between clinicians and patients, academic centers and communities, and the classroom and the clinic.
Chou is a resident physician in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. He was principal investigator for two community-based participatory narrative medicine studies.
