Jess Goldberg

Lecturer, Strategic Communication

Jess Goldberg is a two-time Emmy-Award-winning producer who has led teams creating educational and news content across a range of media, including digital apps (Ten Percent Happier), cable news (Al Jazeera), broadcast (ABC News), and social media (Mic). She is known for making complicated information simple to understand. Her work has been recognized by numerous awards ranging from a Fulbright Fellowship to a place on the Millennial 100 list.

As a journalist for Al Jazeera and ABC News, Goldberg wrote stories about people and events in more than 110 countries. She covered many of the biggest stories in the past decade, including the Syrian Civil War, the Orlando nightclub shooting, and the election of Donald Trump. Goldberg ran a bi-weekly docuseries, Mic Dispatch, that gained as many as three million viewers per episode.

After Mic, she joined the Ten Percent Happier app as the senior producer. She developed and led production teams in creating new content formats, including docuseries-style courses, a thirty-day series, a daily live show, and a podcast. In this role, she recruited psychology professors from Harvard and Stanford to turn mental health research into engaging educational content. The content drove over five million minutes of engagement per week at its peak. Goldberg is currently the Head of Content at Bloom, a cognitive behavioral therapy app with more than 2 million downloads worldwide.

In covering global conflicts and mental health, Goldberg realized that many of the world's problems could be solved with clear and compassionate communication. She is passionate about teaching communication skills and teaches workshops in a variety of settings, including for companies, nonprofit organizations, and online communities.
