Effective immediately, access to the Morningside campus has been limited to students residing in residential buildings on campus (Carman, Furnald, John Jay, Hartley, Wallach, East Campus and Wien) and employees who provide essential services to campus buildings, labs and residential student life (for example, Dining, Public Safety, and building maintenance staff). Celebrating the Columbia University Commencement of the 268th Academic Year

Congratulations to the Class of 2022! The Columbia University Commencement ceremony of the 268th academic year will take place Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. ET, in-person for ticketed guests and also via web broadcast.

The Commencement ceremony is a centuries-old tradition in which the President of the University grants degrees en masse to graduating students from eighteen schools, colleges, and affiliate institutions. During this ceremony, remarkable members of the Columbia community and special guests are also recognized through the conferring of medals, awards, and honorary degrees. It is Columbia tradition that the University Commencement address is given by the President of the University. 

Dean Troy Eggers, as well as the Deans from across the University, will request University President Lee Bollinger to officially confer students' degrees. The University will also confer honorary degrees to Hillary Rodham Clinton, Carla Hayden, William Kentridge, Yo-Yo Ma, James Polshek, and Patti Smith, as well as the University Medal for Excellence to Jodi Kantor, '96CC.
