Sheau-Yan Ho, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and Instructor in Medical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is embedded in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she provides clinical services to women during pregnancy and postpartum.
Dr. Ho received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont. She completed her predoctoral internship in clinical health psychology at VA Connecticut Healthcare System and her postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine at VA New Jersey Health Care System. She has worked in medical psychology, psycho-oncology, primary care mental health, physical medicine & rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, amongst other inpatient and outpatient medical settings. Her academic research interests center broadly on better understanding depression as it relates to medical illness and physical health.
Dr. Ho is passionate about working with clients from diverse backgrounds and is guided by multicultural and inclusive values. She has expertise in the treatment of depression, mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment/coping with medical and behavioral health issues. Clinically, she integrates Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, as well as existential approaches to deliver patient-centered care. She is a strong proponent of interprofessional collaborative healthcare.
