James S. Kim

James S. Kim is a finance and risk professional with more than 10 years of experience in the Financial Services industry. He is also a Lecturer of the Enterprise Risk Management graduate program at Columbia University.

James is currently a Bank Examiner in the Supervision Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In this role, James participates in examinations of financial institutions to identify and evaluate financial risks, risk management practices and methodologies, and compliance with applicable regulations. James analyzes the financial performance and conditions of financial institutions including assessing capital adequacy, asset quality, earnings, and liquidity. His business line coverage includes treasury, trading, investment banking, asset management, and corporate functions.

Previously, James was a Vice President at Citi’s Financial Planning and Analysis group, where he participated in the capital planning and forecasting processes. He analyzed macro-economic scenarios, consumer behaviors and trends, and forecasting results. Prior to joining Citi, he was a Finance Director at Morgan Stanley, where he performed financial analysis on the bank’s balance sheet and income statement. He was responsible for providing financial results and executive commentary to senior management and regulators. James’ previous positions also include roles in Alternative Investment Operations at US Bank and Banking Sales at JPMorgan Chase.
