Jorge Rivera-Agosto, Esq.

Associate Faculty, Bioethics; Assistant Deputy Counsel, New York State Senate; Adjunct Assistant Professor, Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies

Jorge Rivera is the New York State Senate's Assistant Deputy Counsel overseeing Health and Mental portfolios (which also include Disabilities, Alcoholism and Substance Use, Women’s Issues, and Insurance). He also teaches as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Deparment of Public Health at New York Medical College School of Health Sciences and Practice and in the Graduate Nursing Program at Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. 

He finished his Health Law and Medical Ethics Fellowship at Northwell Health. Before joining Northwell, he was a litigator in private practice. Jorge held positions in insurance companies, as well as the government. He has a Master of Science in Bioethics from Columbia University. Jorge has worked extensively with underserved communities in matters related to health care and immigration.
