NEW YORK, NY (September 9, 2016) — Dean Jason Wingard announced today the appointment of Yurij Pawluk as Chief of Staff for the Columbia University School of Professional Studies.
In this role, Pawluk will serve as the Dean’s deputy, managing the coordination and oversight of the full portfolio of academic and operational programs and initiatives at the School. He will also be responsible for advising the executive strategy, cascading key priorities throughout the leadership team, and facilitating communication to enable successful implementation.
“Yurij has an impressive background in strategic planning, communications, and project management across a variety of sectors,” Wingard said. “I am thrilled to have someone of his caliber and experience join as both a key partner in my office as well as an important member of our executive leadership team. I look forward to working closely with Yurij to continue building on the strong momentum of the School.”
Pawluk joins the School of Professional Studies with more than 15 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, he was Chief of Staff and Assistant Vice President at Wellesley College, where he served as the President’s deputy and principal advisor as well as led strategic planning, internal communications, and government relations. Before Wellesley, he advanced citywide special education reform efforts at the New York City Department of Education. Previously, at New York’s City Hall, he served as a mayoral advisor on social policy issues; launched a human services data analytics center; and managed the city’s efforts to secure temporary housing for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Earlier in his career, he practiced transactional law at a large international law firm in New York, and held several positions in the public and nonprofit sectors.
Pawluk received a B.S. from Cornell University and a law degree from Columbia Law School. He is a director of the Cornell Human Ecology Alumni Association and, until recently, served as a board member of the Friday Night Supper Program in Boston.
