In Their Own Words: Three Students Discuss the Benefits of Columbia University’s Master’s in Wealth Management Program

Three students from the Master’s in Wealth Management program at Columbia University discuss their experiences in the program and what has helped them to succeed.

Drew—The Immediate Applicability of the Content

The professors in the Wealth Management program are industry professionals who apply their real-world knowledge to the lessons and content they create for their classes.

“The best thing about the program’s content is its immediate applicability,” [Drew] said. “And it is that applicable because all these instructors are developing the coursework in real time."

Lisa—The Supportive Environment

The Wealth Management program accepts students at various stages of their careers, but there is a built-in support network, so that students never feel at a disadvantage.

“We all support each other,” Lisa said. “And if you feel like you are lacking in a particular skill, we have tutoring sessions, and you can also reach out to the professor. They have the office hours every week for that purpose. There’s an abundance of resources for you to get that additional support if you need it."

Craig—It’s Not Easy, But It’s Worth It

Because the program was designed to accommodate working professionals, students can learn around their schedules.

“I’ve got a real structured day. I make sure to hit it day-to-day, and then I’m working on the weekends,” Craig said. “My family’s been supportive. It’s not an easy program—it’s Columbia—but it is a rewarding program, and it’s worth every minute of it."
